She attended Northern Illinois University as an education major. Ellen lives in Charlotte NC with her husband Bill. In addition to her quilting interests, Ellen owns a small antiques business and collects vintage textiles and buttons. But most of all, she loves to make people laugh.Artist's StatementI create bright, contemporary quilts as well as those with more personal themes. My work is mostly intuitive and often created from unusual thrift store fabrics, bits from my vintage textile collection or my handed-dyes. No one has ever called me normal nor is it one of my life goals. I've purposely avoided taking traditional classes in design, preferring instead to follow my heart. I want my quilts to have a quality of being truly my own. My quilts speak for me. They are my voice. I hope that one or two will speak to you, touch your heart or even make you laugh.
My greatest joy comes through teaching. I've been so blessed and inspired by the fabulous quilters I've met along the way, many of whom remain good friends to this day.
