Color is my motivation in quilting.  Deep hues, striking contrasts, dramatic juxtapositions are my hallmark.  Quilting fabrics, mostly cotton batiks, with their varied and rich tones provide the medium through which I indulge my personal sense of color. 

In strip piecing I have found a vehicle that allows me to indulge this sense of color and also gives me the latitude to create in an intuitive manner.  Unlike in traditional strip piecing with shapes carefully measured and cut with a straight edge, my free-hand cut, irregularly curved pieces incorporate planned and unplanned elements and allow the design to develop in a spontaneous fashion.  To me a quilt is like a puzzle:  I have the elements, how do I fit them together to produce the design?
